Riding The Nullarbor - A Ride Guide Preview

This is a Blog by Blog description as I ride the Nullarbor beginning in Esperance WA to Streaky Bay in SA. It is designed for those traveling in either direction.

If you think the Nullarbor is nothing but a long 2700 KM straight road (unique in itself) through a desert plain ... well you'd be only part right! The intrigue of the Nullarbor lays in the many attractions and interesting phenomena, both natural and man made you travel through. There is also it's own and very special history.

ATTENTION ULYSSES AGM RIDERS...

Watch for the release of my Ride Guide 'Riding the Nullarbor' anticipated late January 2010. Click here to Subscribe to get an eMail notification of its release.

I continued the journey from Streaky Bay up and around the Spencer Gulf into the Adelaide Wine and Gourmet Food trails... but that's another story and another blog... and another TwoWheelTouring Ride Guide!

I had a preconceived idea, perhaps as do many, of what the Nullarbor would be like. I envisioned it to be a huge barren flat devoid of plant or animal life... let alone anything of much interest.

Well I was right about one thing... the Nullarbor is huge! At about 180,000 square km's it’s almost as the size of the state of Victoria!

Its landscape is intriguing, teaming with wildlife and while it has few (or no tree's as its Latin name suggests), there’s a variety of plant life that would satisfy the most inquisitive of horticulturists! If that's not enough, it has a fascinating geological evolution and a recent history that should keep documentary makers gears turning!
